Brat Days 2025: New security protocols
This year's event is on Saturday, August 2nd at Kiwanis Park

SHEBOYGAN — This year’s Brat Days at Kiwanis Park is a one-day only event and festival goers will encounter new security protocols.
According to the Sheboygan Jaycees, the City of Sheboygan has required the non-profit organization to fence the entirety of the Brat Days event grounds. While event admission is still free, there will be just one entry and exit point. For safety purposes, there will be no backpacks, no carry-ins, no firearms, and no pets allowed at Kiwanis Park on Saturday, August 2nd. Security guards will conduct ID and bag checks, wrist-banding for anyone age 21 years or older, regardless of alcohol consumption.1

The ID checks are to prevent unaccompanied children from being on the grounds. This means children will only be admitted with an adult. Adult attendees, regardless of their age, will be required to show ID even if they will not drink alcohol.
Also due to city regulations2, there will be no Brat Days parade this year.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson told WKTS News that changes were needed to address safety concerns. Organizers said they have embarked on a comprehensive process to revamp Brat Days, aiming to elevate the quality and enjoyment for all participants. The festival could have been held in the Town of Sheboygan this year.3 Last October, Jaycee Danielle Brooks spoke with the Town Board regarding holding Brat Days at Firehouse Park on County Road Y. She stated that they are looking for cost savings and Kiwanis Park is not cost effective.
Grounds will open at 11 AM on Saturday. In addition to six bands, there will be a Brat Eating Contest, Cornhole Tournament, a Family Area and Carnival. It takes nearly 200 volunteers to run Brat Days. This includes setting up, which begins on Wednesday. The event itself is a fundraiser for the Jaycees and donates back to other local non-profits.
