City of Sheboygan considers buying 74-acres of land in Town of Wilson
The city already owns 195-acres of land just across Stahl Road

TOWN OF WILSON — A piece of prime real estate in the Town of Wilson that could be ripe for development with a focus on housing is up for sale.
Just south of Sheboygan, the Thimmig Farm on Stahl Road has been listed for sale. The 74-acre property could sell for much as $1.5 million. There are already interested parties including the City of Sheboygan and the Town of Wilson. According to a source familiar with the plans said the town is considering purchasing the land "to prevent the city from annexing the land."

Just across the road is the 195-acre Gartman Subdivision. That farmland was purchased by the City of Sheboygan from the Gartman Family for $3.6 million in 2022. In the past, Mayor Ryan Sorenson said he hopes to bring low-income housing to the area. According to documents filed with the city, the subdivision could have as many as 11 separate apartment buildings, each with 63-units.

Seems like the city of Sheboygan wants to emulate Milwaukee. Crowding a lot of people into a rural area without nearby services does not make sense.
