USPS increasing price of postage
This is the 20th stamp rate change since 2000 and the seventh increase since 2021

SHEBOYGAN — The United States Postal Service has announced its latest price increases which are set to take effect next week.
According to USPS, the cost of a Forever Stamp will jump from 73 cents to 78 cents effective Sunday, July 13th. The roughly 7.4% hike is part of a broader adjustment to mailing service prices, which the USPS Board of Governors approved in spring. The first Forever Stamp was unveiled in 2007 for 41 cents. The last increase was in July 2024 when stamp prices rose from 68 cents to 73 cents. Before that, stamps went from 66 cents to 68 cents in January 2024, and from 63 cents to 66 cents in 2023.
The cost for a book of 20 stamps would increase by $1 from $14.60 to $15.60. The cost to mail a postcard will increase to 62 cents.
The United States Postal Service is an independent federal establishment, mandated to be self-financing and to serve every American community through the affordable, reliable and secure delivery of mail and packages to 169 million addresses six and often seven days a week. USPS generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, and services to fund its operations.
