Vollrath Park's The Shack to reopen
The disc golf concession stand at Vollrath Park will reopen this summer

SHEBOYGAN — A man from West Bend will soon reopen The Shack at Vollrath.
The city’s Public Works Committee will vote during their meeting on Tuesday to approve a contract that would allow Josh Hamm to operate the disc golf concession stand at Vollrath Park. He currently operates Riverside Disc Golf Shop at Sandy Knoll County Park in Washington County. The Shack was originally the concession stand for the Vollrath Park Zoo.
According to the terms of the contract, Hamm would pay $1,050 annually to operate the The Shack for the first three years. He will be responsible for maintaining the premises and grounds in a clean and presentable condition, including ensuring that garbage and recycling generated there is properly handled. The city will continue to be responsible for lawn maintenance.
Patti and Dennis Wield, the previous operators of The Shack at Vollrath since 2000, are now operating The Shack on 2nd. Located in their garage at the southwest corner of North 2nd Street and Lincoln Avenue, they have not decided on regular hours yet but are currently operating by appointment. “We will be adjusting our hours as the season progresses,” said Dennis Wield.
