Wisconsin Maritime Museum plans Swingin’ into Dry Dock
The spirited 1940s-themed event will feature the Manitowoc Marine Band

MANITOWOC — After years of dedication and hard work, the U.S.S. Cobia will head to dry dock this September—a milestone made possible by generous supporters and the unwavering support of the community.
This remarkable vessel will continue to honor generations of submariners and stand as a proud reminder of Manitowoc's World War II legacy.
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is inviting the community to Swingin' in Dry Dock on Sunday, August 31st, a spirited 1940s-themed evening featuring the Manitowoc Marine Band playing big band favorites, lively swing dance lessons and delicious Americana fare from Hot Daugs. Attendees are encouraged but not required to don Allied military or 1940s attire.
A ticket will also allow you to access the USS Cobia before it is temporarily sent away for drydocking in Door County. The submarine's lights will be switched from white to red for a special Rigged for Red tour. Reenactors will be in each compartment of the submarine sharing tales and stories from WWII and other submarine history.
