Sheboygan Theatre Company 92nd Season opens with Young Frankenstein
A monstrously funny musical comes to life with laughs, lightning and tap-dancing

SHEBOYGAN — Tickets are now on sale for the Sheboygan Theatre Company’s first production of the 2025-2026 season.
Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein is a cult-classic favorite that promises laughter and high-energy fun when it premieres at the Leslie W. Johnson Theatre later this month. The show will be directed by Lorenz “Larry” Marcus, with musical direction by Becky and Brian Charbonneau and choreography by Jamel Booth.
“We’re thrilled to launch this exciting season with a show that’s equal parts comedy, spectacle, and outrageous fun,” said STC Executive Director Tricia Roberts. “Young Frankenstein is beloved for its brilliant humor, clever musical numbers, and affectionate parody of classic horror films. It’s the kind of big, bold production our community loves to rally behind—and laugh through together.”

Based on Mel Brooks’ 1974 comedy film, Young Frankenstein follows Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, a respected New York brain surgeon and professor who travels to Transylvania to settle the estate of his infamous grandfather. Once there, he discovers his family’s mad experiments may not be finished—and neither are the consequences. With help from a zany cast of characters—including the eager Igor, the alluring Inga, the mysterious Frau Blücher, and of course, a misunderstood monster—Frederick finds himself at the center of a new experiment gone hilariously right and wrong.
Marcus returns to STC with more than 27 years of experience in directing, performing, and teaching in both community and professional theatre. His previous credits include Drinking Habits, Mamma Mia, Shrek, The Wizard of Oz, and many more. “I’ve always been drawn to stories that mix heart with absurdity,” Marcus said. “Young Frankenstein strikes that perfect balance between big laughs and genuine affection for the genre. It’s a celebration of the weird, the sassy, and the beautifully over-the-top world of classic horror. Plus, Mel Brooks is kind of a big deal!”
The show will run from September 26th through October 4th, with an ASL-interpreted performance offered on Saturday, October 4th to ensure deaf and hard-of-hearing community members can enjoy the experience alongside all audiences.
