Sheboygan Police to curb speeding in July
Officers will spend more time looking for traffic violations including drivers speeding

SHEBOYGAN — Officers from the Sheboygan Police Department will be placing extra emphasis on speeding violations this month.
Last year, there were 1,433 motor vehicle accidents in the City of Sheboygan. That was a 3% increase from 2023 when officers responded to 1,390 vehicle crashes. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding was responsible for 28% of all traffic fatalities over the last ten years in the United States. Nearly 10,000 people are killed annually in accidents due to speeding.
In Sheboygan, speeding is prevalent throughout the city. Since 2020, there has been an increase in reckless driving. Speeding has been especially troubling along Sheboygan’s Lakefront, on the Taylor Drive Beltline and in the SouthPointe Enterprise Campus. Residents have also expressed concerns about speeding in residential neighborhoods.
Officers will be increasing the amount of time focused on traffic enforcement.
