Over 150 children in Sheboygan on waiting list for mental health services
United Way of Sheboygan County is fundraising to support the program

SHEBOYGAN — Despite a growing wait list, the United Way of Sheboygan County is working to continue its school-based mental health services to schools in the county.
The Providing Access to Healing (PATH) Program places licensed mental health therapists directly in local schools. Now serving all nine public school districts in Sheboygan County as well as St. Paul Lutheran, St. John Lutheran of Plymouth, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County. The program has provided nearly 4,000 students with access to mental health care since 2015.
“The therapy sessions take place at the schools,” explained Meagan Van Ahn, Director of Marketing & Outreach at United Way. “These students don’t just get one session, they get multiple therapy sessions throughout the year.” Van Ahn told WKTS News that there are over 150 students in the Sheboygan Area School District on the wait list. She explained that is due to a lack of licensed children therapists.

To raise awareness and raise funds for the PATH Program, United Way hosted their 7th annual Golf for Youth Mental Health event on Friday, June 20th at Sunset Hills Golf Course. In addition to golfing, the event featured raffle prizes and auction items. Friday’s golf outing was sponsored by Carbliss, PLENCO and Sartori.
