Everything you need to know about Independence Day in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN — The City of Sheboygan and Visit Sheboygan are in the final stages of preparing for its Independence Day festivities.
In addition to the parade and fireworks, this year's Freedom Fest features a variety of events over a two-day span organized by Visit Sheboygan with financial support from the City of Sheboygan and local companies. Led by Amy Wilson, Visit Sheboygan is the tourism entity for the Sheboygan Area Tourism Zone, which includes the city as well as Town of Sheboygan, and the Town of Wilson. It is funded largely by taxes collected at hotels in those three municipalities.
The celebration begins on Thursday, July 3rd with the Venetian Boat Parade sponsored by the Sheboygan Yacht Club. The event features food beginning at 3 PM and live music from 4 PM to 10 PM at Driftwood in the South Pier District. The parade itself will start at dusk along the Sheboygan River.
The parade will be held on Friday, July 4th at 9 AM. The parade will travel north from Center Avenue on North 8th Street to Michigan Avenue and then east to the lakefront. Sponsored by Wisconsin Bank & Trust, the parade will end on Broughton Drive near the YMCA. According to the Sheboygan Police Department, parade goers may bring tarps and chairs to hold a spot along the parade route after 5 AM on July 4th. Any items placed out prior to that time will be considered abandoned property and will be removed by police officers.
Prior to the parade on Friday morning, the Sheboygan County YMCA will hold their annual Freedom Run. The race begins and ends on Broughton Drive. Then immediately following the parade, the Sheboygan Theatre Company will host a free performance at the at Fountain Park Band Shell.
There will be live music and food all day Friday at multiple locations along Sheboygan's Lakefront. PLENCO is the sponsor of activities at Deland Park from 12 PM to 10 PM. Four bands will be performing and food trucks will be on site. Harbor Lights Coastal Sports Bar, Driftwood and Blue Harbor Resort are also having live music and concessions.
The celebration will conclude with a 15-minute fireworks show along the lakefront sponsored by Festival Foods. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 PM. Should weather impact the show, the city will make an announcement on social media. There will be traffic restrictions in effect.
