Sheboygan Family Eye Care moving to new location
The long-vacant building is being renovated by Jos. Schmitt Construction

SHEBOYGAN — Work is underway on the new location of Sheboygan Family Eye Care.
Renovations are being made to the 5,430-square-foot building at 1423 North 29th Street in the Smith Gardens Neighborhood on the city’s northwest side. In April 2024, Fourth Generation Properties, owned by partners Reed Schmitt and Steven Schmitt, purchased the 1.35-acre property. The first floor will be leased to Sheboygan Family Eye Care. Another tenant is being sought for the second floor space.
The eye care provider is expected to move into the building by the end of the year.
The green metal paneling that currently surrounds the second floor will be removed. Two new exterior metal paneling profiles will be installed. Recently, Spielvogel & Sons Excavating demolished the 3,070-square-foot metal building constructed in 1978. In the future, there are plans to construct a new three-story building totaling 21,000-square-feet east of the existing building.
The building was home to Superior Electrical Supply from 1966 until 2008. Howard Herman founded the company in 1964 and in 1981, he purchased the J.J. Koepsell Company, a local wholesale plumbing distributor located along the Sheboygan River. Herman died in May 1997 at the age of 75. After his mother died in July 2008, Andrew Herman changed the company's name to Sheboygan Shamrock Holdings, Inc.
A Million Dreamz had purchased the building in October 2019 to open their 24-hour childcare facility. After multiple delays caused by contractors and raising costs, the non-profit organization purchased the former Sheboygan Christian School building on Geele Avenue in 2021.
When the remodel is completed later this year, there will be 3,840-square-feet of office space available on the second floor. For more information, call Ryan Schmitt at (920) 946-7926 for more information.
