Sheboygan Cops on a Rooftop raises money for Special Olympics
Over $1,000 is raised annually in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN — A unique fundraiser had Sheboygan police officers at Dunkin' Donuts.
The annual Cops on a Rooftop fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Wisconsin was held Friday morning at Dunkin', located at South Business Drive and Wilson Avenue. The 5-hour long fundraiser began at 6 AM. Deputies from the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office as well as officers from Sheboygan and Plymouth greeted customers, and collected donations. Over $1,000 is raised annually in Sheboygan.

“Dunkin' is a very generous supporter of Special Olympics,” said Sheriff Matt Spence. “This event does create awareness for Special Olympics Wisconsin, which is great.” Spence went on to explain financial support is even better because it helps with expenses related to athletes competing at sporting events.
“I know for me, it is important to be involved in the community,” said Officer Dustin Fickett of the Sheboygan Police Department. “For Special Olympics, the athletes are just as much part of our community as anybody else is.” Officers support whoever they can that wants to be part of great local organizations added Fickett.

Those who donate $1 received a coupon for a free donut and those who donated $10 or more received a coupon for a free coffee. Through its 13-year existence, the popular statewide fundraiser has raised over $665,000. The Dunkin' store in Sheboygan was one of 74 locations throughout Wisconsin that participated in Friday’s event.
