Bamboo Breeze Bar and Lounge aims for May opening in Sheboygan
The new restaurant will be located next to Chiang Mai Garden

SHEBOYGAN — A new restaurant is coming to the Michigan Avenue Strip in Sheboygan’s Gateway Neighborhood.
Bamboo Breeze, located 819 Michigan Avenue, is owned by Ge and Mai Yer Yang. The couple are originally from Sheboygan and, after spending time away for college and work, were excited to return home to open the restaurant. It will be located inside the same building as Chiang Mai Garden, which opened last summer after El Camino Mexican Restaurant closed in February 2024.
“Our mission at Bamboo Breeze Bar and Lounge is to create an unforgettable experience that immerses every guest in the richness of Hmong culture,” said Mai Yer Yang. “Through authentic cuisine, handcrafted drinks, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, we celebrate tradition, community, and hospitality, making each visit truly memorable.”
While the restaurant is not yet open, they’ve been busy preparing and sharing a selection of traditional Hmong desserts with employees at Great Lakes Cheese in celebration of Hmong Heritage Month. “This community gave us our roots, and it's an honor to come back and contribute to the place that helped shape who we are today,” added Yang. Hmong Heritage Month is celebrated annually in April to honor Hmong history, culture, and contributions.
Pending final approval of all necessary licenses and permits, the couple is aiming to open for business on Friday, May 23rd.
