Rehlko and Town of Sheboygan finalize agreement for wastewater service
As part of the agreement, the company will pay a $68,000 connection fee

TOWN OF SHEBOYGAN — The orange construction barrels that dot Lakeshore Road north of Playbird Road is connected a project that will collect wastewater from the former Kohler Generator Plant.
Rehlko and the Town of Sheboygan have finalized an agreement that allows the company to connect to the town’s sewer system. As part of the agreement, the company will pay a $68,000 connection fee to the Town of Sheboygan Sanitary District No. 2. The sewer line will be constructed within the right-of-way along the east ditch on Lakeshore Road. No taxpayer funds will be used for the project. The company has had an on-site wastewater treatment plant but it requires extensive upgrades to meet the state’s Department of Natural Resources discharge requirements.

In 1961, the Garton Toy Company built a 320,000-square foot plant on a 77-acre property at Lakeshore Road and Garton Road in the Town of Mosel. In 1973, the Kohler Company began leasing space in the plant. It was not until September 1975 when Kohler purchased the plant from Garton. The purchase price was never disclosed.
