SHEBOYGAN — The Quarry Beach at Jaycee Park has opened for the season with new additions to the obstacle course.
After an earlier snafu with the City of Sheboygan over paperwork, the Quarry Beach opened on Thursday. The beach is now open daily from 10:30 AM to 5 PM. In addition to the beach, there are inflatables, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and lessons. The last day of the season is Labor Day.

The Beach Pass is $6 online or $7 walk-in and includes all day admission to the beach and shallow section of water use of facilities and beach chairs. The Aqua Park Pass is $15 online or $17 walk-in and includes all day admission to the beach and shallow section and a 90 minute session on the inflatable park. All participants must sign a waiver for admission into the park. Children must have a waiver on file from a parent.
After the Quarry was annexed by the city in 1943, it opened the Quarry Beach to the public. In 1951, a lifeguard was on duty from 10 AM to 8 PM. In 2006, the beach fee was $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children with an additional $1.50 for the use of the waterslide. Season passes were sold for $25 for adults and $15 for children. Paddleboats were free. The waterslide, which was installed in 1986, was closed in 2008 after failing a safety inspection.

The Quarry Beach did not open for the 2010 season due to budget cuts. It would reopen two years later under a "swim-at-your-own-risk" basis in 2012. Despite volunteers helping to clean-up the park, Alderman John Belanger and now retired Alderman Jim Bohren voted against reopening the beach. EOS Surf Shop was awarded the contract to operate the Quarry Beach in 2017.
