Protesters flood Sheboygan's lakefront, cause commotion
Instead of patriotic celebrations of the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary and Flag Day, protesters took to Broughton Drive

SHEBOYGAN — Around 350 protesters gathered along Sheboygan’s lakefront Saturday to protest the results of the 2024 presidential election.
Democrat protesters took to Broughton Drive to air a list of grievances against President Donald J. Trump. Many held signs complaining about tyrants and kings, demanding late-term abortions, giving Ukraine unlimited funding, and allowing transsexuals to have a “Bathroom Pass.” Several protesters were seen waving Ukraine and Palestine flags. Foul language was also being used by those in attendance.

Protesters made it difficult for families with children to find parking along the beach. A father visiting Deland Park with his six-year-old daughter was unaware what the commotion was all about. “The election was held and Trump won, they need to get over it,” said Michael Smith, when told what the protest was about. He told WKTS News that he had spent nearly 10 minutes circling the lakefront trying to find a parking spot and had to walk another 10 minutes just to get to the beach.
“Volunteering to cleanup the community would be a better use of their time,” said a beachgoer who did not want to be identified. The 19-year-old woman said she voted for Kamala Harris in November. “Protesting is not going to change anything and actually, I like some of the things Trump has been doing.” She added that she was leaving to go to the King Park Beach because all the ruckus.

When WKTS News attempted to ask three of the protesters why they were protesting, they did not want to speak to our reporter. Instead, one shouted, “Free free Palestine!” Apparently, the protest is part of a larger nationwide protests taking place on Saturday. The event was organized by the Sheboygan County Democratic Party and took place at Peace Park Sheboygan. Less than a dozen protesters also gathered at the corner of South Highland Avenue and Eastern Avenue in Plymouth.
Last November, Trump received 38,758 votes compared to 27,733 votes for Harris in Sheboygan County. He ended up winning 31 states, including all seven battleground states, and the nationwide popular vote. Trump won the popular vote with a margin of approximately 2.3 million votes.
