Man reads Declaration of Independence on steps of Sheboygan County Courthouse
Paul Werth is a local veteran and small business owner

SHEBOYGAN — A local man was joined by a dozen spectators as he read one of America's founding documents.
While thousands gathered along Sheboygan’s Lakefront, Paul Werth read the Declaration of Independence on steps of Sheboygan County Courthouse on Friday afternoon. This marked the third year that Werth, who is a veteran, took to the steps of the Courthouse on Independence Day to read the document.
The Declaration of Independence was adopted by delegates to the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776. It served as a formal explanation to the world for the colonies' decision to declare independence from Britain. Werth’s reading of the document on Friday highlights the Declaration's enduring symbol of freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of a more perfect union.
The event was sponsored by the Republican Party of Sheboygan County.
