King Park to host two-day waterfront celebration
Powerboat races return this weekend to Sheboygan's Lakefront

SHEBOYGAN — The City of Sheboygan is preparing for a busy weekend along its lakefront for the 3rd Annual P1 Powerboat Mercury Racing Midwest Challenge.
This year, city officials are encouraging the public to view the powerboat races from King Park, South Shore Park and the South Side Municipal Beach. To further encourage attendance, an event called Boats, Bites N’ Brews will take place at General King Memorial Park from 11 AM to 7 PM on Saturday and 11 AM to 5 PM on Sunday. The event will feature live music, brats and hamburgers from Miesfeld's, food trucks, beer from 3 Sheep's Brewing and local vendors.

South 7th Street and Lakeshore Drive will be closed to motor vehicles between Georgia Avenue and Ashland Avenue. Broughton Drive will also be closed between Ontario Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue. The Common Council voted last month to grant Police Chief Kurt Zempel the authority to direct his officers to close a number of streets for the weekend.
Shoreline Metro will be providing free shuttle service to King Park. Spectators can park at Sheboygan South High School on Washington Avenue or 3 Sheeps Brewing on North Avenue. The shuttle service will operate from 9 AM to 7 PM on Saturday and from 9 AM to 6 PM on Sunday. The city’s public transit system will also offer free trolley rides between King Park, the South Pier District, the Riverfront, Downtown and Deland Park.
Five bands are scheduled to provide live music at King Park. On Saturday, Grupo KKN ZAVOR will perform starting at 11 AM, followed by Buffalo Joe Band at 2 PM and Masters of the Universe will close out the day at 5 PM. On Sunday, Panchromatic Steel will start playing at 12 PM and the Cold Soda Club wraps up the weekend at 3 PM.
