9 events planned at Kohler-Andrae State Park in September
Events are free but vehicle admission sticker is required

TOWN OF WILSON — Kohler-Andrae State Park is hosting a number of events during the month of July.
Park officials encourage members of the public to participate but a vehicle admission sticker is required. A daily pass or annual sticker can be purchased at the entrance. For more information or for questions, call the park office at (920) 451-4080.
Saturday, September 6th
Sandcastle Challenge
9 AM - 4 PM
Spend a day at the beach with friends or family and get creative! Grab your buckets, shovels and trowels and join the Sandcastle Challenge. Pick up a challenge card from the office, nature center, or a campground host and put your sand sculpting skills to work on the beach. What will you create? Will it be a castle, a dragon, a bear, or a wolf? Post a picture of your creation and tag Kohler-Andrae State Park. Stop at the Park Office or Nature Center and show us your creation and get a small reward!
Tuesday, September 9th
Discovery Bird Walk
8 AM – 11 AM
Black River Trail, 6167 South 12th Street
Meet Master Naturalists Janet & Andy Raddatz to observe birds and nature in the park. Participants can leave at any time. Wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. Bring insect repellant, sunscreen, and binoculars. Some binoculars available. No pets allowed.
Saturday, September 13th
Geocaching 101+
2 PM - 4 PM
Outdoor Shelter near Playground, Parking Lot P8
Try an approach to geocaching using smart phones to find caches already located within Kohler-Andrae. Participants must be present at the start to participate. Download the Geocaching app before coming to the park for the most fun. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Discovery Bird Walk
8 AM - 10 AM
Black River Trail, 6167 South 12th Street
Meet Master Naturalists Janet and Andy Raddatz to observe birds and nature in the park. Depending on what is seen, the walk may take 2-3 hours, but participants are free to leave at any time. We recommend wearing appropriate footwear and dressing for the weather. Also, consider bringing insect repellant, sunscreen and binoculars.
Saturday, September 20th
Dutch Oven Cooking
11 AM - 12 PM
Outdoor Shelter near Parking Lot P8
With 30 years of experience cooking with Dutch ovens, Pat and Mike Ward have a wealth of information to share on the how-tos of Dutch oven cooking, whether it be for the next camping trip or backyard cookout.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Ink Fishing Printing
2 PM - 3:30 PM
Park Bathhouse near Parking Lot P6
“Gyotaku” (guy-yo-tah-koo) or ink fish printing was originally a method of counting how many fish a fisherperson caught. Try your hand at this ancient art form with help from our wonderful volunteers.
Paper, bandanas and all other supplies will be available; bring a T-shirt if you would like to print on one. All ages welcome!
