Ink Fish Printing

“Gyotaku” (guy-yo-tah-koo) or ink fish printing was originally a method of counting how many fish a fisherperson caught. Try your hand at this ancient artform with help from our wonderful volunteers. Paper, bandanas, and all supplies will be available; bring a t-shirt if you would like to print one. All ages welcome! Vehicle admission required.
Discovering Wildflowers
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Kohler-Andrae State Park
Black River Trails, 6167 South 12th Street
Join Master Naturalist Karen Merlau and discover the many wildflowers growing along the Black River Trail. As the seasons change, so do the wildflowers. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Bring insect repellant, sunscreen, and field guides or apps. The hike will last at least an hour. An adult must accompany children. Vehicle admission required.

Music in the Park: The Water Street Hot Shots
7 PM - 8 PM

Amphitheater near Parking Lot P4
Bring the family and enjoy an evening of acoustic blues and roots, featuring guitars, fiddle, and stand-up bass. In case of inclement weather, the performance will move to Sanderling Nature Center. Vehicle admission required.
Saturday, June 28th
What Can You Hear in Your Backyard?
9 AM - 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM - 3 PM

Outdoor Shelter near Parking Lot P8
Children aged 1-8 can enjoy a reading of Paul Showers’ "The Listening Walk" followed by a nature scavenger hunt along the trails with Master Naturalist Garth Ewing. This event is designed to nurture curiosity and appreciation for nature among young children. We will explore the sounds of various birds, insects, and other wildlife commonly found in our backyards and their biodiversity in the natural world. Please bring a hat, water, bug spray, sunscreen, and closed-toed shoes. Sandals are not permitted. An adult must accompany children. Vehicle admission required. Program repeats at 1:30 PM.
