A ribbon cutting was held at the organization’s new office

SHEBOYGAN — Local officials and community leaders held a ribbon cutting to celebrate 60 years of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Sheboygan County and the opening of their new office.
On Thursday afternoon, a ribbon cutting was held at the organization’s new office, located at 5300 Highway 42 in the Town of Sheboygan. Those in attendance included State Representative Joe Sheehan and members of the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce. The building was home to the Hayssen Manufacturing Company before closing in 1995.
Earlier this year, Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline was among 17 of 230 chapters nationwide to be named a Platinum Award Winner by the national Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. “This recognition really shows how committed our team is to making an impact and reaching more young people through mentorship,” said Denise Wittstock, CEO of the local chapter. In the past year, the organization has served 460 youth in Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties.

In 1965, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sheboygan County was established, becoming the first branch in the State of Wisconsin. Three years later in 1986, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Manitowoc County was formed. The two affiliates merged in 2021, becoming the Big Brothers Big Sisters Wisconsin Shoreline.
The organization is always looking for volunteers to share time and talents with children throughout Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties.
