MANITOWOC — Two meetings will be held to discuss upcoming bow hunting in the City of Manitowoc.
The one-hour meetings will be held in the lower-level meeting room at the Manitowoc Police Department on Tuesday, August 19th at 12 PM and 5 PM.
Both meetings will cover the same topics of discussion, such as the purpose of the hunt, the type of permissions needed to bow hunt in the city, and the rules set by the city to conduct a safe hunt. Bowhunting and landowner applications can be obtained and submitted on the City of Manitowoc website.
All bow hunting and landowner applications need to be returned to the Manitowoc Police Department by September 5th to be processed by the start of the archery season. If applications are received after this date, approval may be delayed. All bowhunting applicants requesting to hunt private land must have a landowner’s application attached to their bowhunting application when turned in, as they will be denied until such paperwork is obtained.
Three properties owned by the city on Michigan Avenue and Reed Avenue are open to the public for bow hunting. Land on Orchard Lane is no longer open to hunters. Since 2007, hunters have reported tagging 517 deer within Manitowoc city limits. There were 42 vehicle collisions involving deer in 2024, up by when there were 30 reported in 2023.
