13 local high school golfers receive annual Jimmy Lohr Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1991, the scholarship memorializes local golfer Jimmy Lohr
SHEBOYGAN — The Board of Directors for the Jimmy Lohr Memorial Scholarship recently announced the recipients for this year’s golf-focused scholarships.
The annual scholarship was established in 1991 to memorialize local Sheboygan golfer Jimmy Lohr for his unparalleled golf record, his sportsmanship and his presence as a true ambassador for the game.
One qualifying senior from each Sheboygan County school golf team is nominated by their coaches and counselors to receive the $1,200 scholarship. The following students have been recognized as outstanding members of the golf team demonstrating good sportsmanship and fellowship through the game of golf:
Cedar Grove-Belgium High School: Gabe Bruhn
Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School: Kaylen DeRouin
Howards Grove High School: Payton Bender
Kohler High School: Addison Horne
Oostburg High School: Caden Weavers
Plymouth High School (Boys): Benjamin Harpstead
Plymouth High School (Girls): Lauren Niewolny
Random Lake High School: Spencer D. Rathke
Sheboygan Christian High School: Jackson Kiel
Sheboygan Falls High School: Larry “Tre” Kettle
Sheboygan Lutheran High School: Jack MacGillis
Sheboygan North/South High School Girls: Emerson Fitzgerald
Sheboygan North High School: Ryder Miller
The Jimmy Lohr Foundation Board of Directors is led by:
Judy Rubens, Daughter of Lohr
Julie Jacobson, Granddaughter of Lohr
Michael O’Reilly, PGA General Manager at Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run
James Testwuide, President & CEO of HC Denison
The following are the qualifications for nominating one student from each golf team at each Sheboygan County high school:
Must be a graduating senior
Must have at least a “C” average
Must be going on to a university or technical college
Must be a letterwinner in golf
Must be recommended by the golf coach as exhibiting extra effort towards the promotion of golf
